Beloved Saint Mark’s Community,

I am so excited for our Consecration Sunday Celebration this Sunday, November 12th at 10:00 a.m.! We return at last to our tradition of celebrating this day as one joyful congregation. It’s so special when we are gathered in this way, 7:45ers, 9:00ers, and 10:30ers, all the more because we now know what it’s like to be isolated from each other. Our Choristers and Adult Choir have prepared beautiful music for us, including a return appearance from Ajani Harris. We’ll welcome Joseph Tomás McKellar as our preacher. We’ll be led in worship by our amazing acolytes and a host of lay leaders. And we’ll have the opportunity to return thanks for God’s abundant love by pledging our resources for 2024 so we can continue to spread God’s love and light through our ministries. Following our exuberant worship, we’ll keep the party going with a delicious brunch together in the Community Hall. Come be part of the joy of Saint Mark’s at its very best.

As you prepare for Sunday, I ask that you be thoughtful and prayerful about your pledge for the coming year. It is well within our collective capacity as a community to meet and even exceed the church’s financial needs for 2024, but it won’t happen without all of us taking a careful look at our own pledges, and doing what we can to grow them as we are able. In his piece in last Thursday’s Rooted in Abundance eblast, Seth Bass offered several creative ways we might consider for increasing our individual pledges for the year. I encourage you to try some of those on. Are any of them a good fit for your household? What pledge will be both doable and meaningful for you this year? I ask your prayers for Al and me as we discern this year’s pledge in our household. Know that we will be holding you in our prayers as well.

Faithfully yours,

Pastor Carri+
