Have you ever dealt with issues relating to body image or self image in general? It could be specifically about the shape of your body but also things like challenges in self-expression, physical ability, communication, skin tone, gender, the supposed ‘affects’ of sexual orientation, machismo/marianismo (gender roles), popularity, career development, etc. Some of this might seem rather adolescent but these are concerns that form the way we function as adults. At Saint Mark's, we've talked a lot about isms from the outside in, but this series will be more about the way we perceive ourselves from the inside out, and ‘how we be’ in the world.
For four weeks starting September 22, at 9 am in the Brown Library, Joseph will share some of his own experience to get us thinking about self image, and then moderate an opportunity in which all are welcome to share, question, or just to listen.
