We are given the opportunity each year in Advent to journey beyond our expectations and search for the light that shines in the darkness, to look for the places where the incarnate God is coming into the world to heal brokenness, bring merciful relief to those long held captive by oppression in all its forms and invite humanity into relationship with God’s healing, life-giving presence. This year, I invite you to join me in wrestling with Advent’s themes of hope, peace, joy, and love as we anticipate the incarnation of Jesus and grapple with what that incarnation means for our lives.
